About Alicia, independent AMC celebrant Surrey & beyond

Hello, I'm Alicia – pronounced Uh-LEESH-uh (just in case, as I’m often asked).
I’m an independent Surrey celebrant combining writing, performance and events experience to create ceremonies that are genuinely, unapologetically you.

My Story
It was being a guest at weddings that started it all.
I often enjoyed the ceremony, but after a while, too many felt familiar in a way that nagged at me. Lovely sentiments, warm words, hopes and wishes for the future…but nothing I hadn't heard before. Nothing that felt unmistakably, incomparably about the happy couple.
When I discovered the freedom independent celebrants have, working closely with couples to shape every element of their ceremony, writing a bespoke script where every word belongs to them alone, something clicked. I was thrilled to realise as a wedding celebrant in Surrey, I could bring all my skills and experience together in a way that felt like a true calling.
I trained in acting and theatre studies as a young adult, so standing confidently before a crowd has never been something I've had to think about. I've worked in events for over 22 years, so I understand instinctively what makes a live experience land. I've also spent years as a freelance writer, crafting stories for international charities with words designed to make people feel something and compel them to act on it. As your Surrey celebrant, those three things come together as one.
I loved every moment of my training with the Academy of Modern Celebrancy, one of the UK's most respected celebrant training providers, and was incredibly proud to graduate.
I recently had the profound honour of leading a close friend's funeral service, with 200 guests in attendance and a livestream. It was the most humbling thing I’ve ever done and the experience confirmed everything I believe about the powerful impact of a truly personalised ceremony.
My conviction that every ceremony should convey the essence of the person at its heart matters even more when someone can no longer speak for themselves. Words at a funeral carry the deepest weight. They need to be chosen with even greater care. As a funeral celebrant in Surrey, it’s an honour I take seriously every time.
Oh, and did I mention I love writing bespoke poems? There’s a particular joy I find in crafting original verse written just for you, capturing your story or personal commitments in a way that is entirely, refreshingly yours.

A rare combination
Many celebrants excel at one element of the role. Some are brilliant writers. Others are magnetic in front of a crowd. Fewer still truly understand what makes a live experience work: the pacing, the atmosphere and how to make intentional moments land with precision.
I’ve spent my career doing all three – writing content to move people, performing on stage, and learning from the inside how rooms full of people think and feel.
As your celebrant, I’m a listener first. I’ll ask questions no one else thought to ask, notice the details that make your story yours and take the time to fully understand what this ceremony means to you. Then I’ll write it, with every word chosen for you. When the day comes, I’ll stand before your family and friends as your personal storyteller, delivering your ceremony with precision, care and genuine pride.

While we’re getting to know each other…
Away from ceremonies, I'm someone who throws myself into life fully. I play netball, perform in panto, travel whenever I can, attend music festivals and volunteer for local charities. Being around people energises me and I bring the same curiosity and warmth to every conversation I have.
Whoever you are and whatever brings you here, I’m so glad you found me. I’d love to be part of your story.
Like what you hear so far?
Let’s have a chat.
No commitment and no awkward sales conversation, just a friendly call to find out if we're the right fit for each other. If so, we can start thinking about what your ceremony could look like.
